What Are Skin Boosters and How Do They Work?

Skin Boosters are a category of injectable treatment that works fundamentally differently from dermal fillers. Where fillers add volume and structure, Skin Boosters deliver ultra-pure, highly concentrated hyaluronic acid directly into the mid-to-deep dermis not to reshape, but to profoundly hydrate and stimulate the skin’s own regenerative processes from within.

The most advanced of these is Profhilo® a patented BDDE-free formulation that contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid of any injectable product available. Once injected, it spreads through the tissue via a process called bio-remodelling: stimulating four types of collagen and elastin simultaneously, rebuilding the skin’s internal scaffolding and restoring the dewy, elastic quality that naturally diminishes with age and environmental exposure.

Is Profhilo® the same as a dermal filler? Will it change how I look?

No Profhilo® is not a filler and will not change your facial structure or features. It doesn’t add volume or projection. Instead, it spreads through the tissue to hydrate and stimulate collagen production, making your existing skin look and feel significantly better. The result is skin that looks like a healthier, more rested version of you — not a different version of you. Clients consistently describe the outcome as looking “refreshed” rather than “done.”

How long do Skin Booster results last?

Following a course of three sessions, most clients enjoy results that last 6–12 months. The longevity depends on factors including skin type, age, lifestyle and the specific formulation used. Clients who maintain results with a single annual top-up session typically find their skin holds its quality better over time each course builds on the collagen infrastructure established by the previous one. Is there any downtime? Can I have this done during my lunch break?

Skin Boosters are one of the lowest-downtime injectable treatments available. Most clients experience mild swelling and small injection point marks immediately after treatment these typically settle within 2–6 hours. Some minor bruising is possible but not common. Most people return to normal activities, including work, the same day. If you want to be completely safe, scheduling on a day when you can avoid heavy social engagements for the evening is ideal but many clients do come in on their lunch break without any issue.

When will I see results? What does the timeline look like?

Many clients notice their skin feeling more hydrated and looking more luminous within 24–48 hours of their first session. The deeper bio-remodelling effects improved firmness, texture and overall skin quality build progressively over 4–6 weeks following each session. Peak results from a course of three are typically visible at around 10–12 weeks after starting. Can Skin Boosters be combined with other treatments?

Yes Skin Boosters combine extremely well with other treatments and are frequently used as part of a comprehensive skin programme.
